Our Story: Roasting in Adelaide Since 1999

Adelaide born, raised and roasted. We started in Beverley, Adelaide, in 1999. A family owned specialty coffee roastery built on one idea — great coffee, no fuss.

Two generations on, we're still roasting, still delivering, still talking coffee at the kitchen table. We roast daily at our Grange Road roastery in Findon, supply cafes across South Australia and beyond, and run our own café, training facility and service department — all in-house.

We're not here to reinvent coffee or save the world one cup at a time. We're here to roast great coffee, look after our customers, and keep doing what we've done well since 1999.

What we do

PRACTICALITY

Noun: The ability to be sensible and realistic; to be manually adept.

Pragmatic, useful, realistic, reasonable, matter of fact, hands on; the Thesaurus checks out. We do things on purpose, with purpose. We do things because they make sense. Because we’ve done our research and the hard work to understand the best next step. We want to offer solutions for our wholesale coffee clients that simplify the tricky and enhance the everyday. Because efficacy, efficiency, and doing the right thing are important to us; they make sense to us.

We keep it in house, all under one roastery roof. From our delivery drivers and phone reps to our coffee roasters and machine techs, we do everything ourselves: deliver, service, fix, install, train, upgrade, refill, reorder, roast. Making sure everything’s up to Altura scratch and customer convenience, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

Noun: An exciting undertaking; thirst for the new, unknown, and exciting.

Our daily question, besides ‘what to do for lunch’, is: how can we go further? With ears to the ground, arms open wide, and creativity unbound in our practice and perspective. Never settling, stale, or sitting still. We’re always pushing, experimenting, and exploring; playing, tinkering, and innovating. Driven by a deep, intrinsic desire to find more and find great. Our Roastery

A working roastery with a café on the front. The vans head out from here every morning, wholesale orders get packed, machines come in for repair, and there is usually a cupping on the go somewhere out the back. Sit in the café long enough and you will see most of it.

Monday to Saturday. No need to book.

Our Coffee

Blends and single origins, roasted small batch at Grange Road. We buy through importers we have dealt with for years, from farmers we can name, so we know what we are roasting and who got paid for it.

If it is in an Altura bag, we drink it at home too.
